About Hatch Works
Hatch Works Ltd was founded by myself, Richard Hatch, with the intention of writing apps for tablets and mobile devices.
I started writing them about 2 years ago in my spare time. It all started with my wife saying “I can’t find the app I want on the app store. Can’t you just write something”.
She was looking for education and early development apps for our son who was aged 1 at the time. Since that time I have developed various different apps on iOS/Apple that I thought were useful as my son has grown.
The first one, Baby Moving Shapes, was based on the idea of using high contrast images to help visual acuity, with some sounds thrown in for interaction.
Around 18 months old, my son became a bit bored of that so I wrote Baby Touch Shapes. More of an interaction app with the familiar, shapes he’d seen before.
Next came, Touch Follow Shapes, Alphabet and Numbers. These were aimed to help coordination by making him follow the simple shapes and being rewarded for completing the shapes. It wasn’t intended to teach him the alphabet or numbers but I thought that, having already had the recognition of the shapes from the games, he may pick things up a little easier.
Finally, the Baby Discover Animals, Aquatic, Birds, Cats, Dogs, and Images were created just as a bit of fun.
So now, I’ve decided to dedicate some time to this project and create Hatch Works Ltd.
The first task is porting all the existing apps to Android devices. Work is well on the way and should soon be complete. I’m taking the opportunity to completely re-write them all. This should provide better quality apps as a result.
Then I’ll be writing new apps 🙂 I have lots of ideas that I want to try so I hope you’ll see some nice apps as a result.
I hope you and your children like the apps.
Enjoy!
Richard
